Wild Elephant Breaks House, Kills Pregnant Woman & Her Son in Sundargarh Dist

Sundargarh: A wild elephant destroyed a house and killed a pregnant woman and her 8-year-old son at Balijhudi village in Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Wednesday night. Three other children were also injured in the incident. The victims were sleeping when the wild elephant broke into the house.

The deceased were identified as Sukanti and her son Sukhanath.

The three injured children were admitted to the Rourkela General Hospital.

According to reports, Sukanti was sleeping with her four children inside the house when an elephant broke into it by knocking down a wall. According to forest officials, this wild elephant had strayed out from the Barsuan forest range.

The deceased woman was four-months pregnant. Her husband is a migrant worker serving in Karnataka.
