Kolkata: India continued their winning streak in the ongoing World Cup, defeating South Africa by a massive margin of 243 runs. This victory was India’s eighth consecutive win in the tournament.

Ravindra Jadeja was the star of the show for India, taking a five-wicket haul to dismantle South Africa’s batting lineup. Jadeja dismissed Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, and David Miller to complete his five-wicket haul. Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav also chipped in with two wickets each.

India’s bowlers put South Africa under immense pressure from the start, bowling out Quinton de Kock for just 5 runs in the second over of the match.

Earlier, India posted a formidable total of 326/5, thanks to a brilliant century from birthday boy Virat Kohli. Kohli scored an unbeaten 101 runs off 121 balls, with 10 fours. This was Kohli’s 49th ODI century and it came in just 277 innings, much faster than Sachin Tendulkar’s 452 innings for his 49 ODI centuries.

South Africa’s bowlers struggled to make an impact on the challenging Eden Gardens pitch, with only Keshav Maharaj delivering a commendable performance by completing his full quota of overs.

India’s victory was their eighth consecutive win in the World Cup and it will be a huge boost for their confidence as they head into the knockout stages of the tournament.
