World War II Bomb Found, 13000 people Evacuated from German City

A World War II-era bomb was found in Germany’s Dusseldorf. As a precautionary measure, the authorities ordered 13,000 residents of the place to leave their homes temporarily.

The local police and bomb squad launched an operation to dispose of the unexploded bomb, reported German news outlet Deutsche Welle (DW).

The one-tonne bomb was discovered on August 7-8 near the city zoo in Dusseldorf. Immediately authorities ordered all residents within a 500-meter radius of the bomb’s location to evacuate the area. Roads leading to the area were temporarily closed down.

In 2017, the discovery of a 1.4-tonne bomb in Frankfurt forced the evacuation of 65,000 people.
