“World’s Oldest Man” Dies at 127 in Brazil

Jose Paulino Gomes of Brazil, who was believed to be the world’s oldest living man died at the age of 127 on July 28, reported the New York Post.

He died one week before he could turn 128-year-old, at his home in Pedra Bonita of Brazil. According to his family, he died of organ failure due to his advanced age. He was cremated on Julu 29.

According to Gomes’ marriage certificate from 1917, he was born on August 4, 1895. He saw two World Wars and three pandemics.

But as per Guinness World Records, Maria Branyas Morer, 116, is the oldest living person. He was born on March 4, 1907.

New York Post says that it is unclear if Guinness World Records will review the Brazilian’s records to accept long life of the Brazilian.

Gomes is survived by seven children, 25 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
