Youth, Aged Woman Drown in Balasore & Bhadrak Districts

Balasore/Bhadrak: A youth drowned in the Balasore district while an elderly woman met a watery grave in Bhadrak district on Friday.

Three youngsters met with the mishap while they were bathing in a river near Somnathpur village in Balasore district. They were Manas Ranjan Swain (23), Tapanu Swain (21), and Golak Swain (15) of Somnathpur village.

Because of the heavy flow of flood water in the river, they slipped and were dragged into deep waters by the water current. Hearing their cries for help locals tried to rescue them.

All of them were fished out of the river and were admitted to Bhadrak Hospital. There doctors declared Manas to be ‘brought dead.’ The condition of the other two victims is reported to be serious.

In another similar incident, a 67-year-old woman was swept away by flood waters in the Dhamnagar block in Bhadrak district. The deceased was Rebati Patra, who slipped into the flooded river while taking her bath.
