Youth Arrested for Pulling Tail of Wild Tusker in Angul Dist

Angul: Forest officials arrested a 24-year-old youth under the Wildlife Protection Act for allegedly pulling the tail of a wild tusker in Talcher range of Odisha’s Angul district.

The arrested youth is Dinesh Sahoo from Kulad village in the Talcher forest range.

Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Nodal) Susanta Nanda posted a video on X, in which Sahoo is seen teasing a wild elephant by pulling its tail. “Anyone providing information about the person teasing the elephant and location, will be suitably rewarded while keeping it confidential,” stated Nanda. Later the culprit was identified and arrested.

Sahoo was booked under section 9 of the Wildlife Protection Act. If convicted, he may be punished with three to seven years imprisonment under the Wildlife Protection Act.
