Youth Hacked to Death in Sleep in Ganjam Dist

Berhampur: A youth was allegedly hacked to death while he was sleeping at his home in Pandia village under the Purushottampur police station limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as one Murali Badatya. On Friday night, he was sleeping inside his house, while his father was asleep on the verandah. When his father woke up at night to drink water, he found his son lying in a pool of blood.

Murali was immediately rushed to the Hinjilicut Sub-Divisional Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

It is suspected that the victim was attacked by someone with a sharp weapon, while he was asleep. After committing the murder, the assailant managed to escape from the spot.

On receiving information, personnel of the Purushottampur police station reached the village for an investigation.

Locals suspect that a clash that occurred at the village over the Danda Nata program may be having some links with this murder.
