Sensex Climbs 355 Points; Nifty Settles Around 17,100 Mark

New Delhi: At the stock markets, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange climbed 355  points, or 0.62 per cent, to close at 57,990 on Friday.

The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange advanced 114 points, or 0.67 per cent, to end at around 17,100.

In the forex market, the rupee today appreciated around 19 paise to close at 82 rupees and 55 paise against the US dollar.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, Gold futures for April contracts were trading at 58,300 rupees per ten grams. Silver futures for May contracts were trading at 67,050 rupees per kilogram when reports last came in.

In intra-day trade, Brent crude was trading at 75 dollars and 75 cents per barrel.
