Wedding Industry to Earn Rs 4.7 Lakh Cr from 38 Lakh Marriages in India This Season

New Delhi: according to a report by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), in the current marriage season the Indian wedding industry is anticipating to earn Rs 4.7 lakh crore from around 38 lakh marriages.

It will be the highest-ever wedding-related trade recorded in India. In 2022, there were 32 lakh marriages with a total trade worth Rs 3.75 lakh crore.

Now destination weddings have become quite popular. The major places for large-scale destination weddings are Goa, Lonavala, Mahabaleshwar, Mumbai, Shirdi, Nashik, Nagpur, Dwarka, Ahmedabad, Surat, Baroda, Orchha, Gwalior, Ujjain, Bhopal, Indore, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Pushkar, Mathura, Vrindavan, Agra and Varanasi.

Last year’s top destination wedding spots were Udaipur, Goa and Jaipur. In 2023 the top three destinations are Dehradun, Goa and Jaipur.

People have also started spending more money on wedding extravaganza. The expenditure on Indian weddings has increased over the years.

The online wedding vendor directory in its report for 2021 and 2022 recorded an increase of 14.6 per cent where the spending grew from an average of Rs 10 lakh to Rs 15 lakh.
