Bengaluru Student Faces Assault by Seniors for Denying to Shave Beard, Case Registered

Bengaluru: Senior students assaulted a junior student in Bengaluru’s Krupanidhi Group of Institutions when he allegedly refused to shave his moustache and beard. A case has been filed against the accused.

The accused, identified as Xavier Issac, Vishnu, and Sharath, allegedly forced the junior student, Goutham, to shave his beard and moustache when he took admission in the college in April.

When Goutham refused to the diktat of the seniors, they reportedly intimidated him.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), he was assaulted on August 30. He allegedly fractured fractured his shoulder during the alleged assault by the seniors and had to undergo a surgery following the incident.

It is alleged that the accused threatened the family of the victim at the hospital.

A complaint has been filed under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Sections 118(1) and 118(2) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons), 126(2) (wrongful restraint), 189(2) (unlawful assembly), 190 (every member of illegal assembly accountable for an offence committed to further common object), 191(2) (rioting) and 351 (criminal intimidation).

Police are investigating into the matter.
