“Chaddi-Baniyan Gang” loots Gold Worth Rs 5 Lakh, Bananas in Nashik

Mumbai: Members of “chaddi-baniyan gang”, a gang of thieves in ‘underwear’ broke into a house and a college at Malegaon in Maharashtra’s Nashik late Monday night and escaped with nearly 70 gm gold — worth around Rs 5 lakh — and bananas.

A CCTV footage showed the thieves, wearing vests and underwear, breaking into the premises.

The ‘chaddi baniyan’ gang has committed similar crimes wearing underwear in several parts of the country. It is not yet clear if the multiple groups committing such robberies are connected, or the ‘underwear’ attacks are just a modus operandi to mislead investigators.

A few days back, thefts were committed by a ‘gown’ gang in Malegaon. Members of this wore women’s gowns and used sharp weapons to target several homes in Malegaon. This gang also stole money from the donation box in a temple.
