Chain Snatchers Target Delhi’s Encounter Specialist. This Happens Next

New Delhi: In a daring incident at Nehru Park, Chanakyapuri, Delhi, two chain snatchers were arrested by the Delhi Police on Saturday evening. The criminals threatened a jogger with a pistol, demanding his gold chain. Unbeknownst to them, the jogger was Vinod Badola, an accomplished “encounter specialist” and expert in Krav Maga employed with the Delhi Police’s Special Cell.

Badola swiftly pursued the snatchers, engaging in a physical altercation and disarming one wielding a pistol. Despite one fleeing the scene, Badola promptly alerted the police and continued the pursuit with local law enforcement. The fugitive was ultimately apprehended near a fountain while attempting to blend into the crowd.

Identified as Gaurav and Pawan Dev, the snatchers have been charged under sections related to robbery with intent to cause harm. DCP (New Delhi) Devesh Mahla confirmed the arrests and stated that the police have bolstered surveillance efforts in the area, backed by collected CCTV footage.

Vinod Badola, renowned for his past exploits including the encounter of gangster Nitu Dabodia, has garnered accolades for his role in counterterrorism operations. Notably, his efforts led to the discovery of a Taliban-backed narcotics smuggling ring, resulting in a record seizure of heroin valued at ₹1,320 crore, marking a significant achievement for the Delhi Police.
