14-Yr-Old Girl, Accused of Rs 2000 Theft by Teacher, Ends Life in Karnataka

New Delhi: A 14-year-old schoolgirl committed suicide in Karnataka when she was allegedly harassed by a teacher who suspected her of stealing Rs 2,000.

The girl’s family has filed a police complaint against the concerned teacher.

In their police complaint, they accused the teacher, Jayashree Mishrikoti, and headmaster KH Mujawar posted at Bagalkot’s government high school of harassing the girl.

The teacher, Jayashree, who suspected the child of stealing ₹ 2000 from her purse, allegedly told the Class 8 student that she would be expelled if found guilty.

According to some local media reports, the victim was strip-searched. But police have not found any evidence for it yet, reported NDTV.

The events came to light only after the victim’s sister shared the distressing incident with her parents after the funeral.

The girl’s body was discovered on March 16, police said.

Officials said the girl died by hanging when the parents were not home on March 15.
