Chhattisgarh Woman Murdered, Body Buried: Accused Inspired by Bollywood Movie

In a shocking incident in Chhattisgarh’s Kabirdham district, a 28-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her estranged husband and her lover, who then buried her body in a forest, according to the police.

The crime took place on July 19, and the two accused were arrested on Sunday. The accused have been identified as Lukesh Sahu (29), the estranged husband, and Raja Ram Sahu (26), with whom the victim was in a relationship, officials confirmed.

Cops revealed that before committing the crime, the duo watched the Bollywood film Drishyam to learn techniques for concealing the body and avoiding arrest.

The victim’s father, Ramkhilawan Sahu, lodged a missing person report on July 22 at the Lohara police station, prompting a search for her, said Vikas Kumar, Additional Superintendent of Police in Kabirdham.

Three years ago, Lukesh had left his wife over suspicions of infidelity, and she had since been living with her parents in Kalyanpur village. Lukesh had been paying monthly maintenance for their three children as per a court order. However, he reportedly became financially burdened by the payments, the police said.

Raja Ram, who also hails from the same village, was reportedly in a relationship with the victim and had allegedly given her Rs 1.50 lakh and various electronic items. Frustrated by her frequent demands for money, the two men conspired to kill her.

The police, after analysing technical evidence, call records, and questioning suspects, zeroed in on the two men and arrested them.

On July 19, Raja Ram lured the woman to the Ghanikhuta forest on her two-wheeler, where Lukesh joined them as planned. The two then allegedly strangled her with her saree, buried her body at the bottom of a valley, and disposed of her vehicle and mobile phone in the Karranala barrage. They also hid her jewellery and discarded the tools used to dig her grave, the police said.

The police have since recovered the victim’s body, her vehicle, jewellery, and other items connected to the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
