Kanpur Woman Arrested for Duping Men by Posing as Bride

Kanpur: A woman with multiple aliases, including Shivangi Sisodia, Pinki Gautam, Dolly Chawla, and Savita Shastri, has been arrested in Kanpur, India, for duping unsuspecting men by posing as a bride.

Her latest victim, Jitendra Gautam, a constable, played a pivotal role in her arrest. Jitendra met Shivangi on a social media platform in 2016 and they decided to marry. Before the wedding, Shivangi convinced Jitendra to part with Rs 6.21 lakhs to purchase an SUV. However, he never received the car or his money back.

Upon Jitendra’s inquiries, Shivangi consistently claimed the car was on a waiting list. Even her purported relatives turned out to be temporary accomplices.

Following Jitendra’s complaint, the police filed charges against Shivangi under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including extortion, breach of trust, fraud, and bigamy.

The police are investigating Shivangi’s modus operandi, which involved assuming different identities, convincing unsuspecting men to marry her, and then disappearing with their cash, jewellery, and valuables.

Jitendra Gautam’s vigilance and report on the fraudulent activities were instrumental in the arrest of the elusive ‘bride.’ The investigation continues to unveil the full scope of this deceptive operation.
