MS Dhoni’s Ex-Business Partner Arrested for Defrauding Cricketer of ₹15 Cr

New Delhi: Former business partner of cricketer MS Dhoni, Mihir Diwakar, was arrested by Jaipur Police following a fraud complaint lodged by Dhoni himself. Diwakar, a childhood friend of the ex-India skipper, was arrested from Noida Sector-16 late Wednesday night.

The complaint alleges that Diwakar, also a former cricketer, defrauded Dhoni of over ₹15 crore by breaching a contract. The contract, formed in 2017, involved Dhoni becoming a partner at Aarka Sports and Management Limited, owned by Diwakar and his wife Soumya Vishwas. The deal aimed to establish cricket academies in India and overseas.

According to the complaint, Aarka Sports failed to fulfill its obligations, including paying franchise fees and sharing profits with Dhoni. Despite the revocation of their authority letter in 2021, the firm continued to set up academies and sports complexes in Dhoni’s name without informing or compensating him, as per Dhoni’s lawyer, Dayanand Singh.

Dhoni’s claim asserts that the firm’s actions resulted in a loss exceeding ₹15 crore. Diwakar, who had a career parallel to Dhoni’s and was part of the Indian team in the Under-19 World Cup in 2000, holds the position of managing editor at Aarka Sports, as indicated on the company’s website.

Following the complaint, a Jaipur police team arrested Diwakar in Noida late Wednesday night. However, the Noida Police stated they were not officially notified of the arrest.
