AAP Holds Collective Fasting Across India, Abroad Against Arvind Kejriwal’s Arrest

New Delhi: In a show of solidarity and protest against the recent arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, top leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) gathered at Jantar Mantar on Sunday for a day-long fast. The demonstration, named ‘Samuhik Upwas’, drew participation not only from within the country but also from Indians abroad, with similar protests taking place in various states and international locations including Boston, Los Angeles, Washington DC, New York Times Square, Toronto, London, and Melbourne.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, representing the AAP-ruled Punjab, joined the collective fast at the revered site of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh’s village in Khatkar Kalan.

Prominent AAP figures such as Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel, Deputy Speaker Rakhi Bila, and ministers Atishi, Gopal Rai, and Imran Hussain were among those who attended the day-long protest in the national capital starting at 11 am.

Gopal Rai, the Delhi unit convener of AAP, urged the public to join the fast in solidarity against Kejriwal’s arrest. He condemned the arrest as part of a larger conspiracy by the BJP to undermine and dismantle the AAP.

Arvind Kejriwal, who is currently in judicial custody until April 15, was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate in connection to a case related to the Delhi excise policy-linked scam.

The protest signifies a united front by AAP leaders and supporters against what they perceive as an unjust and politically motivated action targeting their party leader.
