Goa Police Books Russian National For Sexually Assaulting 6-Yr-Old Girl

Goa: A case was filed against a Russian national for allegedly sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl from his own country, in North Goa district.

The victim faced the sexual assault on the intervening night of February 4-5 during her vacation in Goa with her parents. On that night she attended an overnight study camp organised by the accused at Arambol in North Goa.

As per a complaint filed by the victim’s parents with the Women and Child Protection Unit of Goa police, the accused, identified as Ilia Vasulev, has been conducting such study camps in Goa for the children of foreign nationals.

The accused is alleged to have “inappropriately touched the victim” during the camp.

Following the complaint filed by the girl’s parents on Feb 19, an FIR was registered against the accused under Indian Penal Code section 376 (rape), and provisions pertaining to sexual assault under the Goa Children’s Act and the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

The Goa police are on the lookout for the accused.
