WATCH: Pilot, Husband Thrashed by Mob For Torturing 10-Year-Old Domestic Help

New Delhi: An IndiGo pilot and her husband, both airline staff, were beaten up by a mob in Delhi’s Dwarka after being accused of employing a 10-year-old girl as domestic help and subjecting her to torture. Shocking videos of the assault circulated on social media, showing the pilot in her uniform being repeatedly slapped, pulled by her hair, and hit by multiple women while pleading for help.

The airline has reportedly de-rostered the pilot and launched an investigation into the matter. The couple allegedly hired the young girl for domestic chores, and a relative of the girl reported seeing injury marks on her arms, leading to the police being informed. The mob gathered upon hearing allegations of the girl’s mistreatment, and the couple was subsequently arrested by the police.

Employing children as domestic help is prohibited in India, yet the rule is frequently violated. The police found burn marks on the girl’s arms, and she received a medical examination and counselling. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act.
