Newly-Wed Woman Commits Suicide in Jeypore, Ex-Lover Detained by Police

Jeypore: A newly-married woman committed suicide by jumping from the roof of a two-storey building in Jeypore town of Koraput district on Friday.

The deceased was identified as U. Harika of Kellasahi at Jeypore. The police have detained the woman’s former lover in connection with the incident.

According to sources, while studying in Andhra Pradesh, the deceased had developed a romantic relationship with a man from Vizianagaram in Andhra Pradesh.

But around one and a half months back her parents married her off to another man in Andhra Pradesh. But her ex-lover was allegedly trying to be in contact with her even after her marriage.

As per reports, her former lover came to Jeypore to meet her when she visited her parents. On Friday morning, the woman reportedly jumped from their two-storey building at Kellasahi.  She was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in serious condition. But doctors could not save her.

Following her death, her parents lodged a complaint at the Jeypore Town police station alleging that she was being blackmailed by her ex-lover.
