Rajasthan Man Ties Wife to Motorcycle, Drags Her Across Rocky Ground

Nagaur: In a shocking incident in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district, a woman was brutally assaulted by her husband, who tied her legs, attached her to his motorcycle, and dragged her across rough terrain.

The assault, which left the woman severely injured, was captured in a 40-second video that has since gone viral.

The video shows the man, identified as Prem Ram Meghwal, in his 40s, arrogantly standing over his injured wife, with his hands on his hips as she cries out in pain. Despite the presence of at least three bystanders, including a woman and the person recording the video, no one intervened to stop the assault.

The incident reportedly occurred last month, but the video has only recently surfaced online, sparking outrage and drawing attention to the pervasive violence against women in India.

Reports suggest the attack may have been triggered by the woman’s desire to visit her sister in Jaisalmer. However, authorities are also investigating the possibility of bride trafficking, a practice reported in some Rajasthan districts.

The local police have arrested Meghwal and filed an FIR. Authorities are also investigating the person who filmed the assault for failing to intervene. Nagaur Police Superintendent Narayan Togas confirmed the woman has been contacted and is currently in Jaisalmer. She is expected to return to Nagaur for further action to be taken.

This case follows closely on the heels of another shocking crime – the rape and murder of a doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital – further intensifying nationwide outrage over violence against women.
