Rape Victim of Class 9 Self Immolates in Bareilly; One Accused Nabbed

Lucknow: A class 9 student, who was raped in Bhojipura of Bareilly district in UP by two minors ended her life through self-immolation.

Although she was raped on August 26, her family could not muster the courage to complain to the police about the incident immediately.

On August 27 evening, the victim committed suicide by self immolation, and after that, her father lodged an FIR.

Police have taken one of the minor accused into custody.

The victim’s father was at his in-laws’ house celebrating Janmashtami with his wife on August 26, leaving behind the two daughters at home.

It is alleged that on August 26 afternoon the two minors entered their house and dragged away the 14-year-old to a sugarcane field. One of them restrained the girl, while the other raped her. After committing the crime, both of them ran away from the spot.

When the parents returned home on Tuesday, they came to know about the incident. In the afternoon, the victim poured diesel on her body and set herself afire. While being shifted to a hospital, the girl died on the way.

One of the accused, a class 8 student has been detained for interrogation.
