“Adipurush” by Om Raut is one of the most eagerly awaited Indian movies of recent times. The movie won’t be released until 2023, but there has been a lot of anticipation over the same.
Naturally, social media exploded when the first teaser was released on Sunday. Unexpectedly, it wasn’t the cheers that were loud; rather, it was the spectators’ disappointment.
Prabhas (of the “Baahubali” franchise) and Om Raut, who helmed “Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior,” the biggest Indian box office success of 2020, combine their talents in this mythical epic.
The trailer shows off the film’s massive budget and has a lot of visual effects. Fans, though, were unimpressed. On social media, “Disappointing Adipurush” rose to the top. The movie was frequently compared by online users to Prabhas’ Baahubali and Temple Run. Some others have highlighted that it appears to be a movie intended for children’s television.

Creative liberty to define character is an exclusive producer-director prerogative.
But what the other Ravan says in this meme is also true. 😅
BTW, 'Adipurush' for Ram-Ravan story. Did they even do a google search as "research" before selecting title? Lazy people of bollywood. pic.twitter.com/OV3QChF2qV

Adipurush is based on the Ramayana. Prabhas’ character is named Raghav, eponymous with Lord Ram. Whereas, Saif Ali Khan plays Raavan while Kriti Sanon will be seen playing Janaki.
Apart from poor VFX, the teaser is also being mocked for its precarious portrayal of the characters.
“Adipurush”, boasts of a massive 400 Cr budget, most of which is spent on VFX, but it seems like the output is not upto the mark and has left the audience disappointed.
The mega film is set to hit the theatres on January 12, 2023. The film will be available in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.
