Naatu Naatu is the first song from an Indian production to be nominated for – and to win – an Oscar. The performance was introduced by Deepika Padukone. In her introduction, she called it a song with an “irresistibly catchy chorus, electrifying beats and killer dance moves.”

Directed by Kartiki Gonsalves and produced by Guneet Monga, “The Elephant Whisperers” is about the unbreakable bond between an abandoned elephant and its two caretakers. This was the third documentary short win for India at the Oscars.
