Bihar Man Arrested by TN Police for Spreading fake Video of Attack on Migrant Workers

Chennai: Tamil Nadu police arrested a 32-year-old man from Bihar for spreading fake news on his social media page about attacks on migrant workers in Tirupur.

A special team from Tirupur Cyber Crime tracked down the accused named Prashantkumar staying in Henegare village of Latehar district in Jharkhand. This man from Bihar had posted fake videos on Facebook claiming that North Indian migrant workers were being attacked in Tamil Nadu.

The Tamil Nadu police team arrested Prashantkumar on March 11 and produced him before the District Court at Latehar. The accused was brought to Tirupr on a transit warrant and was produced before the 3rd Judicial Magistrate Court. He was sent to judicial custody on Sunday.

The Tirupur Police have already arrested another youth from Bihar for spreading rumours regarding attacks on migrant workers. The Tamil Nadu police have registered 11 cases and arrested three persons earlier in this connection.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin has assured Bihar CM Nitish Kumar that all migrant workers were safe in the State. He also promised action against rumor-mongers spreading panic.
