WATCH: Dubai Flight With Over 150 Onboard Catches Fire Moments After Taking Off From Nepal

Kathmandu: Moments after taking off from Nepal’s Tribhuvan International Airport, an engine of a Fly Dubai aircraft carrying more than 150 passengers caught fire.

Soon after taking off from the Kathmandu airport, flames could be seen coming from one of the aircraft’s engines on the route to Dubai.

50 passengers from Nepal are among the more than 150 travellers, according to reports.

Fire engines were set on alert when it was first reported that the aircraft was attempting to force land at the airport. The Fly Dubai aeroplane is currently flying to its destination, suggesting that one of the engines is operational, according to a statement from the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal.

“Fly Dubai flight 576 Kathmandu to Dubai is normal now and proceeding to its destination, Dubai, as per the flight plan. Kathmandu airport operations are normal,” the statement read.
