Imran Khan’s Bail Plea Hearing Fixed for Tuesday, Wife Granted Pre-Arrest Bail

Lahore:Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan appeared before the Lahore High Court accompanied by his wife Bushra Bibi. The court set his bail hearing for the next day in terrorism cases related to his arrest in the Al-Qadir Trust corruption case. Bushra Bibi was granted pre-arrest bail until May 23 in the same case.

Imran Khan is facing over 100 cases, while Bushra Bibi is involved in two cases related to Toshakhana and the Al-Qadir Trust. Khan claimed in a tweet that the government and military establishment planned to arrest his wife to humiliate him and that he might be charged under the Army Act for instigating attacks on military installations.

Khan received interim bail in six cases, including the torching of the Corps Commander Lahore’s residence. He returned to his Lahore home after seeking refuge in the Islamabad High Court premises. The Islamabad High Court granted Khan bail, preventing his arrest in cases registered after May 9.

Following Khan’s arrest, multiple cases were filed against him and his party workers for attacking the Corps Commander House and inciting violence. Charges include murder, terrorism, and other serious offences.

Khan’s arrest triggered widespread unrest in Pakistan, resulting in casualties and the destruction of military and state installations. The Punjab police have arrested over 3,500 individuals in connection with the violence.

Imran Khan was ousted from power in April the previous year after losing a no-confidence vote. He alleged a conspiracy against him due to his independent foreign policy decisions concerning Russia, China, and Afghanistan.
