Portuguese Dog Bobi Loses “Oldest Dog Ever” Record

The Guinness World Records (GWR) stripped Bobi, a Portuguese dog, of the title of “oldest dog ever”.

Bobi passed away at the age of 31 in October 2023. Initially, in February 2023, it was claimed that Bobi was the oldest dog on earth.

However, an investigation regarding Bobi’s age proved the claim to be false. So, the GWR revoked the title given to Bobi.

The review of Bobi’s case by the GWR, including the study of his microchip data and veterinary statements hinted that there was no evidence regarding Bobi’s actual date of birth. So, it was decided to remove him from the record books.

It was claimed that Bobi was born on May 11, 1992. Bobi lived as a guard dog on a farm in the village of Conqueiros in Portugal.

With Bobi no longer holding the title, the search for the next record-holder begins.
