YouTuber Stabbed To Death By Rival During Live Stream in South Korea

Seoul: In a tragic incident outside the Busan District Court, a South Korean YouTuber in his 50s was fatally stabbed during a live stream. The victim, identified as Jo, was attending a hearing when he was attacked from behind by another YouTuber, reportedly named Hong. The assault, witnessed by Jo’s nearly 4,000 subscribers, is suspected to stem from an ongoing online feud between the two content creators.

Authorities suspect premeditation, as Hong allegedly purchased a weapon and rented a car the day before the attack. Jo was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after. Hong fled the scene but was later apprehended by police in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province.

The identities of both parties have not been officially disclosed, but reports suggest the suspect is surnamed Hong while the victim is surnamed Jo. Hong posted a message on his channel expressing remorse to his subscribers but maintained that he couldn’t forgive someone who threatened his happiness.

The feud between the two YouTubers reportedly spanned several years, with public criticisms exchanged on their respective channels. Allegations of slander and financial extortion fueled the animosity, with Jo attributing the conflict to Hong’s actions.

Earlier in February, tensions escalated when Hong physically assaulted Jo, leading to legal proceedings. Police believe Hong, who has approximately 8,000 subscribers, meticulously planned the stabbing, evidenced by his purchase of a long kitchen knife prior to the court hearing and his apparent monitoring of Jo’s livestream to locate him.
