5 Naxalites Neutralized in Encounter with Security Forces in Chhattisgarh

Bijapur: In a major development for the ongoing fight against Naxalism, five Naxalites were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Friday.

The gunfight erupted near Pidia village under the Gangaloor police station area during an anti-Naxal operation launched by security personnel.

A senior police official confirmed the encounter, stating that according to field reports, five Naxalites have been killed. Thankfully, there are no reports of casualties among the security personnel.

The official added that further details are awaited and a search operation is still underway in the encounter zone.

This incident comes close on the heels of another major encounter on April 16, where security forces eliminated 29 Naxalites in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district.
