Several People Stabbed In Sydney Church, 2nd Incident In 3 Days

Sydney: A shocking attack unfolded on Monday at Christ The Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley, Sydney when a bishop and several parishioners were stabbed during a live-streamed sermon.

Police officials responded swiftly to reports of the stabbing and confirmed that while multiple people, including the bishop identified as Mar Mari Emmanuel, sustained injuries, none were life-threatening. The injured, all male between the ages of 20 and 70, received treatment from paramedics at the scene.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and police are currently interrogating a man detained in connection with the incident.

The horrific assault was unfortunately captured on the church’s live-streamed video of the sermon. Footage shows a male suspect clad in dark clothing approaching Bishop Emmanuel before a sudden attack. Parishioners’ screams erupt as they attempt to intervene.

The incident comes on the heels of another violent event in Sydney just days prior, where a separate attacker fatally stabbed six people at a shopping mall before being neutralized by police. Authorities have assured the public there is no current indication the two events are connected.

Police have urged the public to avoid the church vicinity as they continue their investigation.
