Police Respond to ‘Screaming Woman’ Report, Discover Loud Parrot Instead

In a peculiar incident in the UK, police were called to a residence after reports of a woman screaming for help. However, upon arrival, they discovered that the source of the commotion was actually a loud parrot. Steve Wood, the owner of 22 pet parrots, including a three-year-old yellow-naped Amazon parrot named Freddie, was taken aback when multiple police cars showed up at his home in Essex.

As a retired police officer himself, Wood was initially worried about the reason for the police presence. However, the officers reassured him that they had figured out the situation. They had received a report from a concerned neighbour about a woman screaming for help in Wood’s house. To confirm the safety of everyone involved, the officers conducted a search of the premises and interacted with the parrots to verify Wood’s explanation.

Wood captured the incident on video, expressing his amusement at the misunderstanding caused by his vocal parrots. He jokingly mentioned the concerned neighbour’s report and thanked the police officers for their prompt response. The video showcases the lightheartedness of the situation.

The Essex Police spokesperson commented on the incident, stating that the officers had arrived to perform a welfare check. However, they quickly realized that the noise was generated by the parrots residing inside Wood’s home. They appreciated Wood’s cooperation and thanked him for his understanding and patience throughout the ordeal.

It’s worth noting that Wood’s diverse collection of birds, including two Amazon parrots, eight Indian ringnecks, green-winged macaws, blue-and-gold macaws, a Hahn’s macaw, and budgies, tend to be most active vocally during the mornings and evenings.
