3 Injured in ABVP, Left Wing Students’ Clash at JNU

New Delhi: At least three students were injured in a group clash between members of the ABVP and left-wing supported students’ group at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi on Thursday night.

Videos uploaded by the student groups on social media show students attacking each other during a general body meeting for the upcoming students’ union polls.

The rival groups clashed over the selection of election committee members at the School of Languages on Thursday night. Some injured students were admitted to Safdarjung Hospital.

The JNU administration has not issued any statement over the incident. The student groups have blamed each other for the clash.

Left-affiliated Democratic Students’ Federation (DSF) and All India Students Association (AISA) alleged ABVP members disrupted the meeting and used casteist and sexist remarks to threaten students and heckle security guards.

The ABVP blamed JNU Students’ Union and Students’ Federation of India (SFI) president, Aishe Ghosh for launching a “vicious attack on students” and also targeting disabled students.
