Another Manipur Shocker: 37-Year-Old Woman Gang-Raped by Kuki Miscreants

Imphal: Yet another distressing incident in Manipur has come to light as a 37-year-old woman reported a gang-rape by Kuki men while trying to escape the ethnic clashes that occurred on May 3. The woman, accompanied by her niece and two sons, fled her home in Churachandpur amidst the chaos caused by Kuki miscreants setting fire to several houses, including hers.

As they ran for safety, the woman stumbled and fell, while her sister-in-law managed to escape with the children. Tragically, the woman was stopped by a group of five to six miscreants, who physically attacked her and subjected her to a brutal sexual assault. Despite her cries for help, there was no assistance, and more miscreants joined in, causing her to lose consciousness.

When she regained consciousness, she found herself in a house surrounded by Meitei people. The woman’s ordeal prompted her to file a police complaint, and an FIR was lodged at the Women’s Police Station in Bishnupur. The case has been forwarded to the Churachandpur Police Station for further investigation.

Following the FIR, a medical examination of the victim was conducted, and she is currently residing in a relief camp for internally displaced people. This disturbing incident highlights the need for swift and thorough action to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety and well-being of the victim and others in similar situations.
