After Wolves, UP Village Terrorized by Jackals; Drag Away and Kill Sleeping Baby in Sultanpur

Lucknow: After wolves, Uttar Pradesh is now facing killer jackal menace. Jackals have terrorised a pocket of central Uttar Pradesh, killing a baby days after mauling six adults in Sultanpur district in the state.

A jackal dragged away a two-month-old baby into an agricultural field and killed her in Kodariya Purve village in Sultanpur district on Tuesday.

At least 10 people have been killed and 51 have been injured in wolf attacks since March in Bahraich district of UP which is  180km away from Sultanpur.

A week earlier, a pack of jackals had attacked and injured six people in Bhandarapure Lalak Tiwari village, in the Kudwar area of Sultanpur.

Six people of this village have been injured in jackal attacks. The villagers have formed two teams of youths to keep watch from 5pm to 7am.

According to the UP government, 32 revenue department teams and 25 forest department teams are camping in Mahasi and Hardi of Bahraich district to catch the remaining man-eating wolves. It is claimed that four of this man-eater wolves pack have been captured through ‘Operation Bhediya”, while two free ones are creating havoc.
