Amid Massive Protests Body Of Ankita Bhandari Cremated, SIT Probes Matter

Shimla: The 19-year-old receptionist, Ankita Bhandari’s immortal remains were cremated on Sunday a day after her body was fished from a canal in Uttarakhand.

The 19-year-old girl, who worked as a receptionist at a resort in Rishikesh, was allegedly killed by her employer.

Earlier, the family of the girl had refused to perform the last rites as they demanded handing over of the post-mortem first.

The autopsy report of Ankita revealed that she died due to drowning and there were findings of injuries on the body before death, suggestive of blunt force trauma.

The father of the girl has also questioned the Uttarakhand government over the demolition of the resort.

The resort owner, Pulkit Arya, who also happens to be BJP leader Vinod Arya’s son, its manager and assistant manager were arrested on Friday and sent to 14-day judicial custody.

Meanwhile, the SIT team, which is now investigating the case, will now probe the WhatsApp chats of the teen. She had disclosed to one of her close friends that she was forced to provide ‘special service’ to clients at the resort.

As the alleged murder of Ankita Bhandari sparked protests, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami ordered an SIT probe into the incident and said’ harshest punishment’ would be given to the accused.
