Bandi Sanjay Kumar Prime Accused, Confessed To Conspiracy: Police

Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president and MP Bandi Sanjay, who is currently in police custody over his alleged involvement in the question paper leak case, confessed to the conspiracy, states the remand report filed by Warangal Police. The BJP MP has been named as the prime accused in the report.

Police are seeking a 14-day remand of Bandi Sanjay to probe the case. The Karimnagar Police arrested Bandi Sanjay on the intervening nights of Tuesday and Wednesday, triggering protests by his party workers.

The paper of Class 10 board examination in Telangana was leaked on an instant messaging platform for second day in a row on Tuesday. A photo of question paper was taken by a 16-year-old boy, who shared it while the exam was going on.

The paper was posted on a group of the instant messaging app and was subsequently shared with other groups by one of the accused, who had also sent it to Bandi Sanjay, police said.

While addressing a press conference, Warangal Police Commissioner AV Ranganath said the Lok Sabha MP from Karimnagar constituency has been named as accused number one (A1) in the case, while a former journalist, Prashant, has been named A2.

“Sections 420, 120B, Section 5 of Malpractice, 154 and 157 of CrPC have been invoked. Non-bailable cases are also registered in the case,” Ranganath said, adding that Prashant had forwarded the question paper to several BJP leaders, including Eatala Rajender.

Ranganath also said that Prashant and Bandi Sanjay were in touch on WhatsApp and police have been able to find out that there were several conversations between the two.

“Bandi Sanjay’s phone is missing but we will retrieve WhatsApp messages and conversations very soon. They have deleted a few messages, call logs/call data, we will retrieve all those details,” Warangal Police Commissioner said further.

Meanwhile, police also shared a few of the WhatsApp chats shared between accused 1, Bandi Sanjay, and accused 2 Prashant, in the SSC paper leak case.
