Delhi School Peon Arrested for Allegedly Molesting 4-Year-Old Student

New Delhi: A school peon in Rohini, New Delhi, was arrested on Thursday for allegedly molesting a four-year-old girl student. The incident was reported to the South Rohini police station by the child’s mother, who accused the man of molesting her daughter the day before.

The police officer in charge confirmed that a case was registered against the accused under Section 354B (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to disrobe) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and Section 10 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for punishment for aggravated sexual assault.

Following the complaint, the child was medically examined at a hospital and then counselled. The accused was identified by the child on Thursday morning and subsequently arrested. He was identified only by a distinguishing feature, his moustache. The accused, Sunil Kumar (43), is a resident of Sultanpuri and worked as a peon in the school. The incident took place after the girl was admitted to the school on May 1.

The arrest highlights the need for greater vigilance and protection for children in schools. The incident is a stark reminder of the importance of strict enforcement of laws against sexual offences, especially those involving minors. It also underscores the need for parents to remain vigilant and report any suspicions or incidents of abuse immediately to the authorities. The swift action taken by the police, in this case, is commendable and sends a strong message to potential offenders that such heinous crimes will not be tolerated.
