Former K’taka CM Siddaramaiah Terms BJP’s Election Manifesto “Bogus”

Karnataka: Senior Congress leader Siddaramaiah slammed the BJP’s election manifesto for the upcoming Karnataka Assembly election as being “bogus” and said that the saffron party has broken most of its election promises made during the previous state election.

On Monday, Siddaramaiah told the reporters in Gadag, “Even we are releasing our manifesto tomorrow. The BJP’s manifesto is false and bogus. We publish a manifesto that is actionable. That is how the Congress and BJP differ from one another. The BJP made 600 promises in 2018, but just 55 of those were carried out. We kept 158 of the 165 pledges we made. That is the distinction.”

The Congress will release its election platform at nine on Tuesday morning.

The BJP released its election manifesto for Karnataka earlier that day in Bengaluru, under the name “BJP Praja Pranalike.” The adoption of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Karnataka are two of the BJP’s main campaign pledges this time around.

The launching of the manifesto was attended by BJP national president JP Nadda, who said, “The Constitution empowers us to go in the path of the Uniform Civil Code. Our guiding principle is “Justice for all; appeasement for none.”

In addition, the BJP pledged to create a special unit in the state called the “Karnataka State Wing against Religious Fundamentalism and Terror (K-SWIFT),” create 10 lakh manufacturing employment, and give all BPL families three free cooking gas cylinders.
