Health Min Mansukh Madaviya Chairs High-Level Meeting To Review India’s COVID Preparedness

New Delhi: Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya chaired a high-level meeting today to analyse the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in China and other nations and to assess the situation in India.

Additionally, the government has written to all states urging them to speed up genome sequencing and transmit any samples that test positive to specific Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium-INSACOG labs. In a letter to the states, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan stated that Covid-19 continues to be a problem for public health, with nearly 3.5 million new infections being recorded each week.

According to figures from the Union Health Ministry, India’s Covid-19 tally increased to 44,676,330 today with 131 new infections, but the number of active cases decreased to 3,408. Three more fatalities were added to the viral disease’s death toll, bringing it to 5,30,680. Two of these deaths were confirmed in Kerala, and one was reported in West Bengal. There is currently 0.01 per cent of active cases. Further, the Covid-19 recovery rate across the country improved to 98.80%, according to the ministry’s website.
