“Ill-Informed & Ill-Intended”: India Rebukes Islamic Nations’ Group’s Criticism On Article 370 Verdict

New Delhi: In a strong response, India has dismissed the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) statement expressing concern about the Supreme Court’s affirmation of the 2019 revocation of Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi slammed the OIC’s stance, highlighting its association with a country known for its “serial human rights violations and unrepentant promotion of cross-border terrorism,” implicitly referring to Pakistan.

“India rejects the OIC’s statement on a judgment of the Indian Supreme Court. It is both ill-informed and ill-intended,” Bagchi stated in response to media queries. He further stressed that the OIC’s alignment with a nation with a documented history of human rights abuses and support for terrorism raises serious questions about its own legitimacy.

The OIC General Secretariat had earlier expressed concern about the Supreme Court’s verdict on Tuesday, reiterating its support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The Supreme Court upheld the government’s decision on August 5, 2019, to revoke Article 370 on Monday.
