Trailblazing Lawyer Kalpathy Venkataraman Viswanathan’s Journey To Ascend To SC Bench

New Delhi: Kalpathy Venkataraman Viswanathan, a senior lawyer, recently took oath as a Supreme Court judge in India. Hailing from Tamil Nadu, he began his legal career in Delhi in 1988 and worked with renowned advocates.

During his early days in Delhi, he resided in RK Puram and later moved to Mohammadpur village. Justice Viswanathan has represented significant cases in the Supreme Court and served as an additional solicitor for the central government.

He will become the Chief Justice of India in 2030 upon the retirement of Justice JB Pardiwala. This will make him the third Chief Justice of India from Tamil Nadu. Justice Viswanathan’s journey to the top court has been challenging and remarkable. He will serve as Chief Justice of India until May 25, 2031.

With a background in Tamil Nadu, Justice Viswanathan completed his schooling in Pollachi and pursued a five-year integrated law course at Coimbatore Law College. His father, KV Venkataraman, has been a public prosecutor in Coimbatore.

Throughout his career, Justice Viswanathan has been recognized for his expertise and dedication. He has represented significant cases and has been appointed as an amicus curiae (friend of the court) in highly sensitive matters.

Justice KV Viswanathan’s appointment as Chief Justice of India marks an important milestone in his illustrious career. His contributions to the legal field and his commitment to justice have solidified his position as an esteemed member of the judiciary.
