Toll Plaza Employee Killed by Mob Over Delay in Gate Opening in K’taka

Bengaluru: In a tragic incident in a town in Karnataka, a toll plaza worker lost his life due to a violent confrontation with a group of individuals who were allegedly angered by a delay in opening the boom barrier.

The victim, identified as Pawan Kumar, was a 26-year-old employee, while his colleague Manjunath sustained serious injuries during the attack. The incident occurred in Bidadi town, located approximately 35 km from Bengaluru, the capital city.

According to the police, the altercation began when a car carrying four individuals was passing through the toll plaza on Sunday night around 10 pm. Dissatisfied with the perceived delay in lifting the toll booth barrier, an argument ensued. The situation quickly escalated into a physical fight, prompting local residents to intervene and put an end to the altercation.

Following the scuffle, the four accused individuals drove a short distance away from the toll plaza and waited until Pawan Kumar and his colleague left the toll booth to have dinner at midnight. Seizing the opportunity, the assailants attacked them with hockey sticks and fled the scene.

The police have registered an FIR at the Bidadi police station and are currently conducting an investigation. Superintendent of Police Karthik Reddy confirmed that the accused individuals are from Bengaluru and efforts are underway to apprehend them.

Authorities have launched a manhunt to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure that they face the consequences of their heinous act.
