“Youths Chanting ‘Modi, Modi’ Must Be Slapped,” Says K’taka Minister; BJP Files Complaint

Koppal (K’taka): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has filed a complaint against Karnataka Minister and Congress leader Shivaraj S Tangadagi for his controversial remarks directed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an election rally in Koppal.

“They (BJP) are coming now with their election campaign, they must feel ashamed. With what face are they seeking votes now? They promised two crore jobs, have they provided jobs to anyone? If they (youths) ask for employment, they (the BJP) ask them to sell pakoda. They (the BJP) must be ashamed.”

“Even then, if students say ‘Modi Modi’, they must be slapped,” Tangadagi said.

Responding to Tangadagi’s remarks, BJP leader Amit Malviya criticized the Congress minister, accusing him of advocating violence against youths who support PM Modi. Malviya emphasized that parties targeting the youth seldom succeed in their endeavours.

In light of this, the BJP has formally lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against Tangadagi under relevant sections of the Representation of People Act, 1951.
