Kerala Priest Removed from Church Post After He Joins BJP

Thiruvananthapuram: Father Shaiju Kurian was removed from the posts of Secretary of Nilakkal Bhadrasanam and Sunday School in-charge in Pathanamthitta district by the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church of Kerala, days after he joined the BJP.

The Bhadrasanam Council has decided to investigate the complaints received against the priest. The Church spokesperson said, “For the period of investigation, Father Shaiju will be removed from all the posts that he holds in the diocese.”

Around 50 Christian families including Father Shaiju Kurien, joined the BJP in Pathanamthitta a week back in the presence of Union Minister V Muraleedharan.

The church authorities clarified that Father Shaiju Kurian was not removed from his posts for joining the BJP.
