K’taka Woman Stabbed To Death In Front Of Her Child

Karnataka (Gadag): A 28-year-old woman was fatally stabbed by a group of men on Monday in front of her child. Such a horrific incident has been reported from the Gadag town in Karnataka.

All four suspects in the murder of the victim, identified as Shobha Lamani alias Minaz have been arrested, according to the Gadag town police on Wednesday.

On the day of the incident, the prime accused, Chethan Hulkannavar and Rohan Kumar Ligadi turned themselves in to the police, while the other two accused, namely, Kumar Maranbasari and Srinivas Shinde were taken into custody after two days, the police further added.

Police officials claim that Shobha, who had an affair with Ramesh Hulkannavar, the elder brother of Chetan, a few years ago, ended the connection and afterward wed Wasim Bepari. She changed her religion to Islam after the marriage.

“It is learned that Ramesh continued to create trouble in Shobha’s life and the couple allegedly murdered Ramesh on December 14, 2020. Both were arrested. After coming out on bail, Shobha and Wasim continued their life and were attending court hearings. But Ramesh’s brother Chetan was waiting to avenge his brother’s death,” they said.

Chetan and his associates were following Shobha and her child in an autorickshaw on Monday. “The killers stabbed her as she got off the auto near SB Bakery around 2.20 PM. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where the doctors pronounced her dead,” police added.

Later that day, the autorickshaw driver, Inayat Dhalayat, filed a police report. According to Inayat, he drove a ‘shared auto’, but Shobha hired the vehicle specifically for her trip. “She initially intended to get down near the bus stop, but she asked me to first take her to a bakery nearby to get some sweets. The attackers assaulted her in a fraction of a second, and her child, thankfully, remained in my autorickshaw,” Dhalayat said, adding that the kid witnessed her mother’s killing and was screaming inconsolably.
