Leopard Injures 2 in Residential Area in Haryana, Captured After 7-Hour Rescue Effort

Haryana: Panic gripped Hisar, Haryana, on Sunday as a rogue leopard strayed into a residential area, injuring two people before being captured after a tense, seven-hour operation involving multiple agencies.

The spotted intruder was first spotted by a newspaper hawker around 7 am in Rishi Nagar, sending shockwaves through the neighbourhood. CCTV footage later confirmed its presence, prompting immediate action from the forest department, police, and fire and emergency services.

A multi-agency team descended upon Rishi Nagar, determined to safely apprehend the wild cat and ensure public safety. However, the leopard’s origins and route into the city remained shrouded in mystery.

The operation took a dramatic turn when the rescue team, attempting to secure the leopard within a warehouse, faced its wrath. Guards Manjeet and Bablu sustained injuries during the struggle. Adding to the chaos, the leopard managed to leap over a warehouse wall and lunged at a woman on the street, who fortunately escaped unharmed.

Alerted by the commotion, the leopard sought refuge in a nearby house. With the tranquillizer trap proving ineffective, authorities resorted to darting the animal. Once sedated, the rescue team was finally able to secure the leopard, bringing the ordeal to a close.
