Rourkela Steel Plant Provides Specialized Pipes to Aid Uttarkashi Tunnel Rescue

Sundargarh: In a display of solidarity and technological prowess, Odisha is playing a pivotal role in the ongoing rescue operation to save 41 workers trapped inside the collapsed Uttarkashi tunnel in Uttarakhand. The Rourkela Steel Plant, a unit of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) in Odisha, has customized pipes that are proving instrumental in extracting the trapped labourers from the debris.

These specially manufactured pipes are being transported to the accident site via Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft, with enhanced security measures in place at Rourkela Airport to facilitate the timely dispatch of additional pipes in the coming days.

The tunnel collapse occurred on November 12, and since then, dedicated teams have been working tirelessly against time to rescue the trapped workers.

Among the 41 individuals affected, five hail from Odisha.
