Mithun Chakraborty’s Roadshow In Bengal’s Midnapore Marred by Stone-Pelting, Clash

Kolkata: Some miscreants hurled stones during a roadshow by Bollywood actor turned BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty in West Bengal’s Midnapore town on Tuesday. According to reports, a clash also occurred in Midnapur.

Mithun was campaigning for Agnimitra Paul, the BJP candidate for the Midnapore Lok Sabha seat, when these incidents happened. Voting will be held in this constituency on May 25. Both Chakraborty and Paul were unharmed in the incident.

Paul alleged that TMC activists threw glass bottles and stones at the procession.

Mithun’s roadshow faced stone pelting at the Shekhpura area of Midnapur. The BJP workers present at the roadshow clashed with the alleged stone pelters. Timely intervention by the police brought the situation under control.

“We don’t believe in such unruly acts. The BJP itself is staging the drama as the roadshow was a flop,” TMC spokesperson Trinankur Bhattacharya said.
