PM Modi Slams Nitish Kumar Over Controversial Birth Control Remarks

Bhopal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his objectionable remarks on birth control during a speech in the Bihar assembly. Referring to Kumar’s comments, PM Modi expressed his concern about the use of indecent language by a prominent leader within the INDIA alliance. He questioned why no other alliance leader had spoken out against it, emphasizing the need for responsible discourse.

“… a prominent leader of INDI alliance used indecent language in the Assembly shamelessly. Not a single INDI alliance leader is speaking (against) it. How low will they stoop… and bring shame to the country,” PM Modi said at a rally in poll-bound Madhya Pradesh.

In a controversial statement, Nitish Kumar discussed the role of sex education among women in population control. He explained how an educated woman could restrain her husband during intimate moments to prevent unwanted pregnancies. The fertility rate, according to Kumar, had decreased from 4.3 to 2.9, with a further decline expected.

The BJP accused Nitish Kumar of using derogatory language in the assembly and demanded an unequivocal apology. They characterized him as an “obscene leader” and called for a ban on his double-meaning statements. Nitish Kumar later apologized for his remarks, clarifying that he valued women’s education and recognized its impact on fertility rates.
